The Loveliness of a Vow Renewal

Vow renewals can appear to be quite similar to wedding ceremonies, but there is something uniquely endearing about this celebration. Whether you are celebrating 5 years, 10 years, or 50 years of matrimony, renewing your choice to walk the road of life together can be quite a potent and special marker. Perhaps this little snippet of a vow renewal I wrote says it best:

“This moment, this renewal of your commitment to each other, is just as potent, if not more, than when you first made your pledges to each other. To be in a marriage for ten years is no small feat. You have made it through the bittersweet beauty of ten autumns, the cold and dark of ten winters, the awakening and renewal of ten springs, and the joy and exuberance of ten summers. You have journeyed together not only through the seasons of the year, but you have learned to navigate the unique seasons and rhythms of your daily lives together. You have remained steady through countless ups and downs, hard moments and moments filled with bliss, moments of grief and moments of celebration. Ten years into your marriage, your blinders are off, you know exactly what it takes to be in relationship with one another, you’ve experienced all the rewards and challenges that marriage brings.”

Vow Renewal Ceremony

If you are looking to renew your vows simply, with just you and your partner in attendance, or surrounded by your community, children, grandchildren and everyone who supported you on your path, please contact me to discuss your vow renewal.

My husband and I are proud to say that we have worked with Jen twice and were overjoyed each time. Jen officiated our elopement back in 2015 on a snowy February Day in Nederland. The words she spoke after only knowing us a short time speaks to her craft. We knew that once we decided to renew our vows after 5 years, it would only be meaningful if Jen would officiate. She performed our vow renewal with the same beauty and kindness that we expected and made the day so meaningful for the both of us. I don’t have enough great things to say about Jen. She has a talent for ceremony that is a wonder to bear witness to. She will craft a ceremony so intimate that you will truly feel like you and your someone are the only ones in attendance, until she gracefully makes the entire guest list feel included in your love. I cant wait to renew again!

Ceremonial Musings

“What you encounter, recognize or discover depends to a large degree on the quality of your approach. Many of the ancient cultures practiced careful rituals of approach. An encounter of depth and spirit was preceded by careful preparation.

When we approach with reverence, great things decide to approach us. Our real life comes to the surface and its light awakens the concealed beauty in things. When we walk on the earth with reverence, beauty will decide to trust us. The rushed heart and arrogant mind lack the gentleness and patience to enter that embrace.” ― John O’Donohue
